Autumn 2018

Industrial Revolution

Our first Learning Log was based on Industrial Revolution. What a fabulous job we all did!

July 2018

British Values

Our final Learning Logs are about British values.

These sit comfortably beside our Christian values and we try to use them in our everyday lives.

May 2018

Where in the world is Brazil?

That was this half term's question in our Learning Log and as you can see we have thoroughly enjoyed this topic which covered many aspects of Brazil, its continent and the Amazon Rainforest.

March 2018

Our Learning Logs this half term have supported our theme of the Golden Age of Islam.

February 2018

Some amazing work in our Learning Logs this half term which concentrated on our research and learning of rivers of the world and focusing on rivers in Scotland.

The mobiles of the water cycle, art work and designing and making a game were especially impressive with the making of a mathematical 'chatterbox' proving very popular.

Great work everyone and thank you.

December 2017

We have researched and produced amazing work about the French artist, Paul Cezanne and we have also looked at What is Christmas Really About?

Have a look at what we have produced in our Learning Logs.

Thank you Year 5!

They have put lots of effort into their work.

A huge well done to all of Year 5!

July 2017

British Values

Our Learning Logs this half term have been all about our 5 British values which support and underpin our school ethos and society in general.  We are able to remember our British Values as we use each finger to represent a different value - Democracy, Rule of Law, Tolerance of different cultures and religions, Mutual respect and Individual liberty.

May 2017

Brazil

Ask us anything about Brazil and we'll know it!

This half term we have discovered the highs and lows of Brazil - its location, the Amazon Rainforest with its many layers and varied wildlife including birds and insects, the important role of Amazon River and the man-eating piranhas that live beneath its depths, deforestation of the land and its impact on the environment and the 4 remaining tribes living there, and lots more...including the country's great love of and skill at football.

March 2017

Egypt and the River Nile

Year 5 has enjoyed a trip along the River Nile in Egypt experiencing the lifestyle and culture of living in such a hot desert country. What are the hardships experienced by people living in the desert regions compared to those living around the fertile lands around the Nile? How do people access and use the water from the Nile and how can we compare this river to other rivers which have already learnt about?

Many of us knew that Egypt was a holiday destination and now we know lots more!!

February 2017

This half term's theme was The Tudors.

Were they as 'terrible' as we are led to believe?  Certainly Henry VIII was a mean and selfish man who got rid of some of his wives in a cruel and gruesome way. Illnesses and disease were treated with strange lotions and potions and punishments for petty crime were often very harsh.

Have a look at a selection of work from our Learning Logs.

December 2016

Our theme this half term was 'Can I be a French Masterchef?'

We had so much fun learning about all that is French including the language, the Country, its rivers, artists and especially the food.  We sampled a selection of breads, macaroons and made and enjoyed crepes with a selection of toppings.

Our Learning Logs reflect the fun we had with this topic. Vive la France!!
